Playing with the Ex-socs

Yesterday I played with the SVG Ex-socs against Allerheiligen. It was a very tough and fast match . Ambition and emotion ruled the action. A welcome catalysator to let some steam off on such occasions is, evidently, the referee. Still, Max Voglmair did a good job – sorry for the shouts and wry look :-). It was tight but for my part quite enjoyable. After all, it was the defensive tactics that won the match and although we controlled the match and held the ball for about two thirds of the match we lost – not undeservedly – 6-4. (more…)

Harvesting Sauvignon Joseph

PA174804_stefan_potzinger_joseph.JPG On Oct 17, my brother Stefan finished off this year’s wine harvest in proper style gathering in his Sauvignon Joseph grapes . Bright sunshine, blue skies and cool temperatures provided the perfect scene to cut down wonderful grapes that tasted sweet like raisins

His critique was centred upon the fundamental quality of probability that rules the world of quantum mechanics. When faced with the fact that in the subatomic realm nothing can be extrapolated and relies, at best, on statistics, he exclaimed: “I cannot believe that God plays dice with the cosmos. – Gott würfelt nicht.” As a matter of fact, however, he had to admit that the ‘old’ physics as developed by Sir Isaac Newton can neither predict nor explain what happens in the microcosmos

Brave New World of Democracy?

General elections took place last weekend in Austria . Regardless of what you might think of the outcome and the interpretations and conclusions taken, I would like to highlight one worrying detail: the portion of voters not going to the elections (about 26 %) was almost as high as that of the strongest party.
