Our Generation

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

I have found this short presentation on the presentationzen website. I have skipped over it a dozen times since I didn’t find a presentation with text appealing. But when I finally stopped to watch it, it really made me think . This is an extraordinary presentation, one that is not only asking to question one’s value it also ends with a surprising and uplifting denouement

Charity run 2009

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Taking it as the first real test of the season, I participated at the charity run in Gabersdorf on March 1, 2009. After a tough running week with an exhausting long jog over 31 ks on Friday, I scaled down from 15 ks and opted for the 10 kilometer distance, which turned out to be a good decision . The race took place on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon with a record crowd of 100 participants.

Our team performed extraordinarily well, winning the 10ks (Jörg Achten, 35:02 min) and 15 ks (Christian Kleineberg, 53:17 min) competitions

. Vinzenz Kumpusch was a strong runner up over 10 ks (35:06 min) just a breath behind Jörg and I became 3rd in a personal 10 ks record of 37:26 (3:44 min/km).

Extrapolating from our performance on Sunday, much can be expected at the Austrian marathon championships in Salzburg on May 3, 2009

Cranio Sacral body work

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I do not know how many are aware of the fact that Sylvia does a special kind of body work, called Cranio-Sacral body work. She completed her training in Krems in 2007 and has been working for the last two years with all kinds of people: mothers, pregnant women, babys – and runners
. It is an amazing kind of work that is both subtle and effective. I always feel totally recovered after one of her treatments .
One day back at the beginning of our relationship, I suffered from high fever, which wouldn’t go down. After Sylvia’s treatment, I slept for 12 hours and when I woke up the fever was gone.
I had her also treat my achilles tendons with surprising results. Thus, from my own experience, I can only but recommend this kind of work. Try it out, you will be surprised.

Sylvia has just launched her website: cranium.at

Beck - Modern Guilt - Criscom's Best Albums of 2008

  1. Beck – Modern Guilt
  2. Coldplay – Viva la Vida
  3. MGMT – Oracular Spectacular
  4. TV on the Radio – Dear Science
  5. Snow Patrol – A Hundred Million Suns
  6. British Sea Power – Do You Like Rock Music?
  7. The Verve – Forth
  8. Bon Iver – For Emma,Forever Ago
  9. Razorlight – Slipway Fires (UK-Version)
  10. Keane –Perfect Symmetry

This list wasn’t easy to compile. Still it reflects my musical journey through 2008 quite well. And it is an honest list – some might rub their nose at Keane, but, please forgive, I really liked their album, which turned out to be a good listen when the office was buzzing with work. Beck’s new outing was as terrific as it was bleak and turned out to be one of my favourite listens closely followed by Coldplay’s great new Eno-produced album, which came out just before our wedding . Listening to Viva La Vida time warps me back to this wonderful time in Syl’s and my life .

As I limited myself to a Top 10 list, I had to leave some good albums out . Here are the other contenters:

I surely have missed some great albums . Feel free to post your lists and albums which should definitely be on my list and in my iTunes . Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Running Koglberg

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

running with christian up koglberg early saturday morning
Christian and I met when the blood red winter sun was sending its first rays over the horizon. It was a cold Saturday morning, perfect for running. We set out towards Kaindorf and reached Rettenbach bridge in Kaindorf after about 15 minutes. From there a steep track cuts straight into Koglberg. It is called the Rettenbach Klamm and is popular with hikers.
great views from koglberg on our morning run with christian
